Welcome to Kirkweb's Pulpit Exchange Page!
Information and details required:-
Having been asked on a number of occasions to provide information on how and where to advertise for a pulpit or summer exchange, I have decided to create a page to facilitate exchanges. This facility is open to any minister or student who would like to exchange pulpits or come for a summer to work within a congregation to gain experience.
If you would like to advertise on this page, please email me for details. If you then wish to have your information posted, you should email me with the details of your exchange and provide the following in around 250 words: Your current situation, i.e. Minister in charge, student etc. Suggested dates and desired country of exchange. If it is a pulpit / manse / car exchange then some details of the parish, manse and the requirements of the exchange, i.e. 1 or 2 services, some pastoral visitation, funerals etc. You should also provide a contact email or snail mail address, or Telephone / Fax number so that you can contact each other.
I will then post the details on the page as they are received and the information will be posted as close to the date received and remain on the page for 3 months from the date of posting. If you manage to get an exchange arranged, please let me know so that your details can be removed. Please also note that I can only post the information on the web page and I do not have the time to assist to transfer information or negotiate on your behalf. Happy Exchanging!

Pulpit Exchange: in 2007 (May - June 2007).
My Name is David Hodgson and I am presently moderator of the Presbytery of Grand Canyon, Arizona, and serve a United Church of Christ parish in Scottsdale. It is an affluent well-educated congregation, diverse in its theological and political perspectives, yet energized by an spirit of respect and tolerance. Attendance in worship in the winter is anywhere between 100 and 120, and in the summer between 60 and 80.
Arizona is a magnificent state to explore. Half of the state is desert climate -- summer year-round, and the other half is at 7000' elevation or more, and enjoys all four seasons. My hope is to find a pastor in Great Britain who might be willing to exchange parishes, homes, cars for a period of time in May or June of 2007. The time is flexible, although parts of Arizona heat up pretty well later in the summer.
I was ordained in the Presbyterian Church in 1967, have also served a term as mayor of a New Jersey municipality, and hold a doctor of ministry degree in the area of theology and public policy. I have exchanged parishes in Scotland (Perthshire) and Wales (Cardiff), as well as with religious leaders in Uganda and Ukraine. My wife, who would accompany me, is also a Presbyterian pastor with a nursing background, and serves as an associate pastor of another United Church of Christ parish.
My email address is the best way to respond to this advert. David Hodgson
